Most homes need just this.

A general guideline. Keep pumping every 3 to 5 years.

How it works

One pod a month. That's the whole routine.

01 Drop

Drop one pre-measured pod

With dry hands, take one water-soluble pod from the resealable pouch and drop it into any toilet bowl. Each pod is already measured.

02 Flush

Flush once

The water-soluble film dissolves and carries 75 billion+ Bacillus spores to your septic tank.

03 Repeat

Repeat every month

The spores become active in the tank and help break down grease, paper and organic waste. Most homes use one pod a month; the calculator tells you if yours needs two.

The honest answer

Does BT-DW replace pumping? No.

If a product claims you will never need to pump again, be skeptical. Inorganic sediments like sand, grit and synthetic fibers from the washing machine never biodegrade, and no biological or chemical product can make them disappear. A licensed septic company must pump your tank every 3 to 5 years, or as your local health department recommends.

Drain field replacement Thousands of dollars Cost varies by region and soil
Routine pumping ~$300 to $600 Recommended every 3–5 years

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Straight answers about monthly septic maintenance and what BT-DW can and can’t do.

How often should I use BT-DW?

We recommend one pod a month for most homes. Use two pods a month (one every 14 days) if 5 or more people live in the home, your tank is over 1,500 gallons with heavy use (4 or more people), you use a kitchen garbage disposal, or you use bleach and cleaners often. A 12-pod pouch provides 12 months of care at one pod a month, or 6 months at two.

How is BT-DW different from other septic pods?

We are transparent about our formulation. Each 25 g pod holds 75 billion+ Bacillus spores (at least 3 billion CFU per gram at manufacture, per our supplier’s Certificate of Analysis) on a carrier of salt and rice hulls. Supplier lab data is available on request.

Will it harm plumbing pipes, garbage disposals, or septic seals?

BT-DW contains no caustic lye, no harsh acids and no petroleum solvents. Used as directed, one pod in a full toilet bowl is safe for standard household plumbing, including PVC, ABS, copper and cast iron.

Can I use it in RVs, campers, or marine holding tanks?

Yes. Flush a pod into the holding tank with plenty of water. The Bacillus help break down waste and toilet paper, which helps control odors, and the formula has no formaldehyde. Keep dumping the tank on your usual schedule.

Do I still need to pump my septic tank?

Yes. Sand, grit and synthetic fibers from laundry don’t break down, and only pumping removes them. Have your tank pumped every 3 to 5 years, or as your local health department recommends. BT-DW helps break down the organic part (grease, paper and food solids) in between.

Is it safe to handle around kids and pets?

Keep pods sealed in the pouch, dry, and out of reach of children and pets. Do not swallow. The powder can irritate eyes and skin, so wash your hands with soap and water after handling a broken pod.

Where can I buy BT-DW?

BT-DW is sold on Amazon US. Use the Buy on Amazon button on this page.
